AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Performance Analysis on B450 Chipset

Load Temperatures

Temperatures at full load reach a high of 66 degrees Celsius which I think is more than acceptable. The included stock CPU cooler did an adequate job of cooling the processor.

Verdict and Conclusion

Well that was fun! I haven’t build a budget system for quite a while, and this little project has really opened my eyes to the fact that there’s a whole ecosystem out there for budget system builders.

And I get it … why would anyone need a USD $400-600 discrete graphics card (unless you’re an enthusiast gamer) for browsing the internet, watching YouTube or the occasional online shopping. Integrated graphics is just fine for home/family use, and what better to have a processor with a built-in Radeon Vega 8 graphics as found on the Ryzen 3 3200G.

Of course you can’t really compare the performance of the integrated graphics with a dedicated discrete graphics card, but if you’re planning to build a home/family system on a budget, the AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, along with a B450 motherboard is your perfect answer.

Incidentally, we tested the AMD Ryzen 3 3200G on a high-end X570 motherboard, and couldn’t find any real performance difference between the that and the B450. From my understanding, the real difference will come when we start to use PCIE 4.0 components with the X570 motherboards, which manufacturers are planning toward the end of 2019.

Final Words

The complete system we built, totalled USD $499, and if that ain’t classed as budget, then I don’t know what is. At this price, you’ll be lucky enough to maybe get one discrete graphics card like the Zotac GeForce RTX 2070 AMP extreme. You can check out our list of components on the first page here.

The AMD 2nd Gen Ryzen 3 3200G, along with the MSI B450M Mortar Titanium motherboard wins our value award for being the most affordably attractive setup we’ve had the pleasure of building.
