Verdict and Conclusion
After using the AOC AGON CU34G2X 34-inhc monitor for more than on week, I’ve very pleased to say … I absolutely love it! At 34-inches, the size is perfect for my needs, especially when I do a lot of video editing, benchmarking, heavy web browsing on multiple windows, and of course the occasional 1440p gaming!
As far as the visuals are concerned. The high contrast ration of 3000, along with the brightness of 300 nits, really enhances the blacks, black and whites, white. Everything is so sharp and crystal clear. The colors are rich and vibrant, and a high refresh rate of 144Hz and a low response time of 1ms … gaming is smooth and lag-free. Oh I forgot to mention, the aspect ratio of 21:9, the 1500R curve, along with the super-thin bezel gives you a really immersive gaming experience.
There are 6 preset display settings which can be selected, these include FPS, Racing, RTS or customise your own ideal conditions and save them (Game 1 or Game 2). PIP/PBP is a nice added bonus, as well as the option for HDR modes (Picture, Movie and Game).
To enable the full refresh rate of 144Hz, you must use a high quality DisplayPort (1.4) cable to connect the graphics card to the monitor. I tried a standard HDMI cable (probably a 1.3 or 1.4), and the highest refresh rate I was able to get was only 100Hz. Mmmm … may I need a high quality HDMI 2.0 cable.
