Conclusion and Verdict
Having a KVM switch is an awesome feature to have integrated into a monitor. As this is the first attempt, there is definitely a few things that can be improved on. One of the most confusing things I encountered was the fact that this monitor is only KVM when the second display is USB-C. I really didn’t read ahead or do any research. I figured the other HDMI ports would also be part of the KVM. At first I thought I was doing something wrong because I had no mouse or keyboard functions even though I was using the KVM button to switch between inputs. Then after I did a little reading I found out the the USB-C is the only other Input that part of the KVM. I will be honest I was a little disappointed because the eliminates using a laptop or any another device that doesn’t have a USB-C Output for video. So keep that in mind if your other devices don’t. What I did like, if you used a USB hub you could use a headset as well. So all-in-all there are limitations to the KVM switch that may not be obvious at first. I would have liked to see the switch work between every input. As far as the panel goes, the picture is fantastic and the testing results show that. I don’t mind the fact that there is no speakers in this monitor because they are usually a last resort option anyways. Great color and awesome response. All the specs and panel technology are the ones you want when you get a new monitor. I have no complaint from any one area of this monitor. This is an awesome monitor for gaming and one of the best for a vertical setup. The stand and the VESA mount will allow you to mount this monitor in any orientation too your hearts desire. You couldn’t ask for more in a monitors picture. Gigabyte continues to develop and produce new hardware we can all appreciate.
If you want a monitor capable of switching between another device (USB-C of course) seamlessly and not have to change peripherals. Then this is something you definitely something you need over a traditional switch that takes up a ton of space on your desk. Oh, and the all the wires coming from a KVM switch can be an eyesore.
Now this monitor is only 1080p and yes why this may be minimum I would recommend if you want a pleasurable gaming experience. The 1080p in no way hinders your gaming experience. In fact it could give you some advantages with the 144hz and 1ms response time. You will see things clearer and sooner than the competition.
The power supply is external, which I find a little better than being in the monitor. Why? you ask. This allows you remove just al little more heat away from you area.
