The Box and Packaging
The package comes with everything you need to get started right away. There’s even 2 lens filters included as well as carry pouch and a bike clamp included. I only wished they could have included 1 extra spare battery.
The ThiEYE Action Cam with waterproof casing
The waterproof casing is solid and the buttons for power, menu and selection is tight and rugged. It gives me good confidence, if I’m thinking about taking this action camera underwater.
A Closer Look
The ThiEYE V5s 4K Action Camera is compact and small, just like most action cameras on the market. What really stands out with this one is the large “big eye” lens. Well, it’s not the actual lens that is large but rather, the filter.
Power button is at the front side of the camera, while the menu is activated using the top button. The up and down buttons on the side are used for making the selection on the menu system. You’ll also find a micro HDMI output, micro USB port and a SD card slot.
The battery compartment is located on the under side of the camera, along with a standard camera mount.
Photos 12MP
Still photo shots were surprisingly very good. Photos turned out to be quite sharp and very detailed, without “fish-eye” effect. This is all thanks to the large 12MP sensor.

Verdict and Conclusion
I was surprised with the quality of the video footage I managed to get. Low light was ok, but not great, but the timelapse and slow motion was super cool. Daytime recording on both 1080p and 4K was also very good. I do like the fact that ThiEYE gives you 2 lens filters, which I think is an added bonus.
The menu system on the ThiEYE V5s is easy to use and navigate. So no complaints here. I only wished they have the option to remove the “fish-eye” effect of the video recording, which is pretty standard on all action cameras … but is that too much to ask 😛
