I’ve always liked the idea of getting a TV feed onto a Windows desktop, and years ago I would install some type of Hauppauge TV tuner card and have some live football on in the corner of my desktop whilst I was working. For those that have followed my reviews will no that where I live I don’t have a TV aerial and even if I did, due to the surrounding buildings, all I would get is static. So to view live TV I use my Unblock Tech IPTV box, but this got me thinking of how to get the signal to my Windows desktop. I most admit here that I completely overlooked the possibility of getting a motherboard with a HDMI-in port when I bought my one, so unless I replace my 2 month old motherboard, I would need to come up with another idea.
This is where a capture card comes in. It’s a bit pricey just to get a TV signal onto a PC desktop, but with all the latest features now available I get the added benefits of live streaming to Facebook Live and YouTube, record our video podcasts and gaming sessions, and even record/stream commentary on top of any feed.
So today I will be taking a quick look at the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD Lite, and will go through just how quick and easy it is to use.
AVerMedia Live Gamer HD Lite
Live Gamer HD Lite is a PCI-E card that helps you record and stream your game footage at up to 1080p. Designed specifically for gamers who capture/stream gameplay via PCs, this highly-compatible PCI-E capture device comes with an on-board H.264 hardware encoder, which materially lowers CPU usage and brings you smaller file sizes for post-editing. Live Gamer HD Lite also supports a wide range of resolutions and fits into most PC platforms. Meanwhile, it adopts HDMI connectivity for inputs from different gaming consoles; the HDMI pass-through function guarantees a smooth HD gaming experience even while recording, which typically consumes considerable CPU usage under other circumstances. On top of that, it can be directly connected to streaming platforms, and you can even add live commentary when streaming up. From now on, sharing or preserving your legendary matches is no longer a dream.
