On opening the box, you will find all sorts of expansion brackets and mounting brackets, leading to a diverse ways of usage for the NC02U5. Aside from the power button, the front panel has a SD card reader and a USB A and a USB C port, both of which are USB 3.0 standards.
Even though the NC02U5 is quite small, the back panel boats a plethora of connection ports: DC power in, HDMI, display port, headphone with mic, LAN port and 2 x USB ports. For a more diverse commercial use, the NC02U5 also ports an older serial port on its side; this would make an ideal central unit for a POS system.
To help reduce the size the NC02U5, Shuttle has done away with the conventional PSU and uses a power adapter much like you get with a laptop. With the power adapter, the NC02U5 is very lightweight, and even after we had installed one RAM 8Gb DDR3-SODIMM and a 2.5″ internal hard disk, the NC02U5 weighed no much more than decent sized graphics card.
Open up the NC02U5 was very ease, but you will need a long thing screwdriver to access the 2 screws that hold the top in place via the front bottom screw holes.
