Verdict and Conclusion
Sorry, I had to say good bye to my Sony a6300. I didn’t see the need to keep both camera. Although the Sony a6300 is a great 4K camera with stunning visuals, I really needed a vlogging camera with an articulated LCD screen, and the Canon EOS M6 is the perfect choice for me.
The video and photo quality taken from the Canon EOS M6 is very good. It’s compares very well against the Sony a6300 however, it feels somewhat slower. In other words, it’s not really designed for sport photography with fast moving objects.
Other features vital for vlogging (in my opinion) is the microphone input, and if you’re an online streamer, you can just plug a HDMI cable from the camera straight to your capture device.
There’s only one problem with the camera (not a real problem), if you attach an external microphone to the hot shoe, your LCD screen will get blocked. So if you want to use both the external microphone and the LCD screen, then you’ll need to use a cage/arm of some sort.
The Canon EOS M6 isn’t really designed for the seasoned photographer/videographer. However having said that, it’s more than capable to produce decent high-quality photos and videos, which is more than enough for most on-the-go vloggers.
The Canon EOS M6 can be purchased from most retailers for around USD $730 for the body, and around $850 for the full kit (camera and kit lens EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM). With such a feature-packed camera that’s under $1,000, I think it’s an absolute bargain and a great buy! Buy the Canon EOS M6 with lens kit from Amazon – http://amzn.to/2wG3SKZ
