Photos of the Case Exterior
Normally case reviews show a glimpse of the box, but in this case it was completely beat to hell. It was kind of expected though since the case was shipped from Taiwan. No need to worry , opening the box the case was in beautiful condition. And the packaging took the brunt of the beating.
This case is completely made of aluminum. Unfortunately that means that all fingerprints will show up on the case as well. But that also means they are very easy to wipe away with a soft cloth so it is not really a big deal, just something you have to keep in mind.
The finish is anodized on. This process is sort of like painting, but instead the paint is electrically attached to the metal.
If you like your case to have an industrial-type look this case will call to you. There is nothing quite like the look and feel of an aluminum case. It is nice and lightweight, yet is still very strong.
The power button is pretty awesome. When power is applied and the system is on the button glows a light calming blue. Unfortunately there is no restart button, but holding down the power button for a few seconds can turn off the system so it is not exactly a big deal to be missing a reset button.
The front of the case features a couple of USB 3.0 ports. If your motherboard does not support USB 3.0 , however there is no need to worry since Lian Li throws in an adapter so the ports can opporate as USB 2.0 if need be. Throughout testing they were used as 2.0 and worked flawlessly.
If you were hoping for dust filters on this case, you will be let down. You will have to make your own, purchase your own, or simply choose to not use one and clean out the system from time to time.
If you were looking for anything other than aluminum on this case for the feet you will be let down. The feet look great ,but the downside is that if you have a glass or wooden surface for the case to sit on there WILL be scratches on the surface if the case is moved at all.
The rear of the case is pretty straight forward. A power supply mount and the I/O area for your motherboard. Keep in mind that the motherboard had already been mounted when the picture was taken so you will not have all of those connections out of the box.
Since this case comes with a 300w power supply it provides enough power for pretty much any system that does not use a dedicated video card. Unfortunately without doing mods yourself there is not a way to add on a video card or any other expansion card. Honestly, I wish Lian Li would have included at least a single card slot. As it is, there is just wasted space that could have been put to use for a single-slot gpu, sound card, or wifi card.
The rear does not have any exhaust area unless the power supply is in use. In which case a 80mm fan blows air out the back of the case and will aid in the cooling of the processor.
Removing the sides off the case is extreme easy. No tools or screws are needed at all. Instead Lian Li went with a system where little pegs fit into a mounting system
