Raidmax Enigma S14 Chassis Review

Raidmax Enigma S14 – A Closer Look

The chassis is constructed of 0.8mm sturdy steel and does not feel flimsy at all. I really like the weight to size ratio of the Enigma. With dimensions of 485mm (L) x 210mm (W) x 475mm (H), this chassis is not too bulky, but large enough to provide a presence in the room. This gives the impression of a quality build. Anything less would be uncivilized. The front panel is sleek with rolled edges and the matte paint black finish is superb. As expected, there is a lone Raidmax logo on the front near the bottom. I was really hoping that the logo would light up, however it does not.

The main side panel is tempered glass which is all but the standard these days. What’s so great about tempered glass you say? Firstly, it is much easier to keep clean than plastic. Secondly, tempered glass is less likely to scratch. Those are great enough reasons for me to like tempered glass for sure! The backside panel is vented with an almost honeycomb design, which I do like. Both of the side panels are secured to the chassis with thumbscrews, which is a nice touch.

Also worth to mention are the dust filters that are installed in the bottom of the chassis as well as behind the front panel. The front panel I/O consists of two USB 3.0 ports, 3.5mm headphone and microphone HD audio jacks, a power button, as well as a reset button. At the rear of the case, we find a standard layout with plenty of expansion ports. The Enigma supports up to seven total 120mm fans. Alternatively, you may install two 140mm fans in the front, three 120mm fans in the bottom, or a combination of radiators equivalent thereof.

The interior of the Enigma is very spacious. Supporting up to an ATX form-factor motherboard and 450mm graphics adapter, there will still be amply room for various system configurations. The Enigma is also wide enough so that most CPU coolers (under 163mm) will sit comfortably inside without clearance issues. Straight away you will notice that the power supply mounting is at the top of the chassis. Even still, the engineers at Raidmax were kind enough to provide shielding to hide all of your cables. Cable management has become one of the most important features for some when deciding on a chassis and Raidmax does not disappoint with the Enigma here. The three main holes to supply cabling to your motherboard have rubber grommets.

Raidmax included a single 120mm ARGB fan which can be controlled either via a direct connection to a supported motherboard or via the included accessory hub. Incidentally, this hub is located behind the motherboard tray and supports up to eight fans or accessories! The front panel cables are of adequate length, so you should have no problem connecting to any motherboard configuration that you may have. For storage, the Enigma supports up to five 2.5″ drives or up to three 3.5″ drives. Needless to say, the average storage configuration is aptly supported here. The tool-less design is also a welcome feature here.

Now let us move on to the Installation part of the review!
