What’s in the box?
The package is pretty simple but protects the product well and tells us most we need to know about what we can find inside.
Inside there is a well-protected DA6 XL case, a set of screws, other mounting parts, and four legs that we can install for horizontal or vertical orientation.
Streacom points out its environmental activity and cares about safe materials and easy recycling, so most of the package is made of cardboard or paper. Only foams protecting the case and the plastic bag for the PCIe riser make the exception.
The case comes with a PCIe 4.0 riser which is a nice addition as the retail price is typically half of the value of the DA6 XL case. Many ITX cases still use PCIe 3.0 risers which don’t work well with some high-end graphics cards. No problems like that with Streacom. The riser works well with Radeon RX 6800 XT used for our PC build, and also GeForce RTX 4080 tested on the side.
Modules
The DA6 XL can be upgraded with various modules that we have to buy separately. Our bundle arrived with a Biometric Authentication Module, so in short, a fingerprint reader, which is similar to that found in modern laptops. For example, we can log into the operating system with a simple fingerprint scan instead of a standard password or pin. This is one of the unique features that the competition doesn’t have.
One more thing which was added to our review sample was a set of TX13 thermal grease. This is one of the best thermal compounds on the market, with thermal conductivity of 13.4W/m-k. It’s also one of my favorite thermal greases, as it spreads well and works great with modern processors and graphics cards. I decided to use it in our PC build.
