Photos Part Three: Hardware Installation and Testing
Now for the important stuff:
- Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H (Review Pending)
- Intel i7 4770k
- Thermaltake NiC 5 Untouchable
- Patriot Viper 2x4GB 1600mhz memory
- Gigabyte Radeon 7790
- Corsair CX600 power supply
- Seagate 500gb hard drive
- Thermaltake Chaser A71
For the most part, installation was up to its usual standards and easy to fit in the motherboard, cooler, HD and disc drive, as well as the necessary cable management room for all the the above plus the fan cables. And speaking of cables, Thermaltake has included an 8-pin extender for the CPU cable which is something I really appreciate since you’ll obviously need the extra length with all that extra room. But that’s not the only freebie. You’ll also get an extended fan cable for the side-panel that plugs into the PSU line of your choosing.
Oh, what’s this? The video card bolts are now on the inside? Well, yes, why not? So you’ve probably heard me drone on before about the previous style of mounting system and are therefore right in concluding that I don’t have anything to complain about here. It does feel sort of like an answered prayer, so personal props to them.
There is, however, something that didn’t quite sit well with me. The PSU screw-holes didn’t exactly line up, nor did the video card screw-holes for that matter. This is something of a rarity among my experiences with cases, but it was a real hassle getting all of the screws to go in all the way. I actually had to put some serious pressure on the PSU itself and the video card bezels in order to get them properly fastened. But as I said, everything else fit perfectly and didn’t present much of a hard time.
