Thermaltake CTE E660 MX Chassis Review – Hydrangea Blue Edition

Installation

During any PC build with a chassis that has tempered glass, we recommend you remove the tempered glass side panels completely. The last thing you want is to have your tempered glass cracked or scratched during installation.

We decided to use the Thermaltake CTE E660 MX Hydrangea Blue Mid-Tower Chassis for our custom loop PC project build.

For cooling, we fitted the Thermaltake Pacific 360mm radiator, on the rear of the chassis, and a Pacific distroplate (with pump) at the right side of the motherboard. We also added a total of 8 x Thermaltake CT120 ARGB cooling fans … 2 on the top, 3 on the rear and 3 more on the bottom. Everything fitted nicely with no issues.

We used a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus AX ICE motherboard, and again it fitted nicely inside the chassis with plenty of room for the 24-pin ATX power connectors and other cables.

And finally, using the floating GPU bracket, we mounted the ASRock PG Radeon RX 7900 XT (White Edition), which is a 3-slot graphics with a length of 330mm.

 

The Finished Item

Tubing aside (we’ll come back to that another day), I was extremely surprised how smoothly everything went. All the components was easily installed in to the chassis with no issues at all.

The CTE E660 MX chassis doesn’t come with any cooling fans, so you’re going to have to buy your own. In the end, we used total of 8 x Thermaltake CT120 ARGB cooling fans … 2 on the top (exhaust), 3 on the rear (exhaust) and 3 more on the bottom (intake).

 

Yes, you’re right … our Project Aqua Hydrangea PC build is not fully complete. We’re missing the hard tubing and some cabling. But what we’re trying to show you here, is how spacious and veratile the Thermaltake CTE E660 MX chassis really is. And I’m more than happy with the progress of our Project Aqua Hydrangea PC build so far.
