Thermaltake V9 BlacX Edition Chassis Review

The External

The Thermaltake V9 BlacX comes with some great features including the support for USB3.0, dual docking station that supports both 2.5″ as well as 3.5″ hard drives. The USB3.0 connector is uniquely visible at the top of the chassis, and transforms into a bright blue cable which extend out at the back. You would then nornally connect this cable to the USB3.0 port of your motherboard.

For cooling, the Thermaltake V9 BlacX has a honeycomb mesh design on all sides of the chassis, which offers excellent air-flow and features a massive 230mm slient fan on the top, which spins at 800rpm. There’s also a large 120mm blue LED fan at the front, which draws cold air in, and another 120mm fan at the rear to extract the hot air out.

The Internal

As you can see the Thermaltake V9 BlacX Chassis comes with a black interior, which is something gamers and enthusiasts love. The construction is solid and the overall build quality was good. Smooth rolled-back edges prevent your fingers being cut (trust me … this can happen to the most seasoned of system builders). The internal cooling fans come with braided power cables, which I think is great and it’s something which you won’t normally find.

However, there is one thing I didn’t really like. TI though that the tool-free system for locking down the expansion cards was a little “flimsy”. It feels as if it could easily be broken or damaged … if a little extra force was applied. It just didn’t feel strong enough.
