Zotac ZBox Blu-Ray Mini PC (HD-ID34BR) Review

The packaging is very similar to what you get with a normal standalone DVD player, except you get a remote control. There’s a separate power supply, DVI-to-VGA adaptor, a VESA wall mount/bracket, Cyberlink PowerDVD (Blu-Ray edition) software and a driver CD.

I was a little disappointed to find that it didn’t come with any HDMI cable nor any other cables for that matter. An extra eSATA or USB3.0 cable would have been nice. No windows 7 and no remote control. Imagine if the unit came with a remote contol, then it would have been perfect for watching DVDs or Blu-Ray films straight out of the box. But having said that, the Zbox Blu-Ray HD-ID34BR isn’t a standalone player … it’s a mini PC.

A Closer Look

Taking a closer look at the Zotac Zbox Blu-Ray HD-ID34BR, you’ll plenty of connectors including HDMI, DVI, eSATA, RJ45, SPDIF Optical, 1x USB2.0 and 2x USB3.0 ports. There’s also a 6-in-1 multi card reader, which is great for transfering photos.

The unit is very smooth in appearance and build quality is very good. As I said before, it looks very much like a standalone DVD/Blu-Ray player … it wouldn’t look out of place if you put it with your other audio/visual equipment.
