The specifications show that the XPX Aurora series coolers are compatible with nearly all desktop sockets and should work great regardless of the number of cores that the processor has.
The size is perfect for all kinds of motherboards, and it won’t interfere with capacitors or RAM and VRM heatsinks.
Now let’s take a look at the package and its contents.
Package and its contents
The Eisblock XPX Aurora Edge comes in a well-designed box. The package doesn’t need all the descriptions as it’s a product for professionals who know what they are buying, but for purely aesthetic purposes, it still looks good. The exterior has everything we need, with a picture showing the product inside.
Inside the box, we will find all that we need for the installation, including all the mounting kits and manuals. This is an advantage over competitive brands that Alphacool includes mounting kits for more than only one socket. If we change our minds, then we can use the same CPU block on a different socket without the need to spend money.
The CPU block has a nickel-plated copper base with a micro-channel structure. It’s about the best design nowadays and something similar we can find in the most well-performing CPU blocks on the market. The main difference is usually the price and aesthetics.
The top is made of acryl. It’s more durable than a standard plexi version, and it won’t crack so easily if we overtighten the fittings. It’s also probably the most popular version, as many users love transparent cooling.
The cold plate is well-polished. It doesn’t have a perfect mirror finish, but it’s close. We can’t see the CNC milling pattern like on many competitive products.
