Corsair RS120 MAX Cooling Fans (3- Pack) Review

Installation

What I like about the Corsair RS120 Max cooling fans, is the fact that you don’t need a dedicated fan controller to power and manage the fans. You can simply plug them straight on to the motherboard. This is a BIG plus for me.

If you want to mount these fans on your chassis, you can use Corsair’s QuikTurn screws, which is super easy to use. For mounting on to radiators, you can use the longer screws which are included with the package.

During our installation, we mounted the RS120 Max on to the Thermaltake 360 Ulta AIO cooler, which fited nicely. All I had to worry about was the fan cables 😀

One of the first ting you’ll notice when you power up the system is how quiet these fans are, yet you can really feel the airflow.

Test Setup

For our tests, we will be using a test rig which is comprised of the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite AX ICE motherboard, along with an Intel Core i9-14900K @ default speed, as well as 32GB of Lexar ARES DDR5-7200 ram.

All tests were conducted at turbo clock speeds at a minimum resolution of 1920×1080 or higher. High or Ultra settings enabled.

Cooling Performance on 360mm Radiator

Let’s see how well these RS120 Max cooling fans can perform when mounted on to a 360mm AIO. Well, here are the results.

Idle Temperature

During idle, HW Monitor recorded a minimum fan speed of only 835 rpm, while CPU temperature was around 37-38 degrees Celsius.

Load Temperature

At 100% full CPU load, the fans reached a maximum speed of only 1991 rpm, while keeping the CPU temperature well under 90 degees Celsius. This is no easy feat, as most 360mm AIO coolers that I’ve used (with standard 120mm cooling fans) only manage to cool the CPU to around 97-100 degrees Celsius.

So as far cooling performance is concerned … I’m well pleased with the Corsair RS120 Max.
