Conclusion and Verdict
In conclusion the sp120 RGB LED fans have a fantastic look and can add highly desirable lighting effects to any PC users case. These fans are intended to be used as a case fan and only have the 3 pin connector but a guy can easily do as I did and hook up a fan controller to fully customize the speed and use them on a radiator or cooling solution application.
I personally put them on my liquid radiator with a fan controller and noticed not much difference in cooling as these things move a decent amount of air at 4 RPM the 1400. You have three different modes to choose from which include variable speeds at which the lighting changes colors and the speeds at which it changes. You are limited to the preset functions built into the controller with the lack of software. With that being said these fans to produce a beautiful light through the transparent fan blades.
The noise levels on these things are not bad at all it tends to see anything under 1000 RPM and the fans are virtually silent you get to the 1400 RPM and the fans to produce a slight audible noise. You do have the option of hooking up to 6 fans to One controller that is SATA powered so you can easily expand your fan profile easily. All the fans tested out at about 1425 RPM which is well within the plus or minus 10% in the specs. The decibel rating in the specifications claim to be 26 with three fans running at full blast I recorded a reading of 35 decibels. I did a chief a sub 26 decibel reading when I turn the fans down to minimum voltage.
The Corsair SP120 RGB LED Fans can be found on Newegg as well as various other e-tailers for around $19.99 USD
