Conclusion and Verdict
It’s been quite a while, but my last CPU air cooler I’ve used was the infamous Noctua NH-D15. It was a superb air cooler that offered amazing cooling performance and compatibility, and even some of the AIO liquid coolers we tested recently was no match against the Noctua NH-D15. I have since donated the Noctua CPU cooler to a friend, but for some reason I still miss it very much 😀
When Cougar asked us to test the Forza 135 CPU air cooler, I was pretty excited, because I wanted to see how it will perform against the Noctua NH-D15. The Forza 135 is very similar in design to the Noctua NH-D15, but this time the Forza 135 has 7 heat-pipes as opposed to 6 heat-pipes on the Noctua NH-D15. Both have 2 cooling fans, but the Forza 135 comes with an elegant cap décor on the end of each heat-pipe.
In terms of compatibility, the Forza 135 is suitable for all Intel Socket LGA 115X / 1366 / 1200 / 1700 / 2011 / 2066 (Core i3 / i5 / i7 / i9 CPUs), and for AMD AM5 / AM4 / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2 CPUs. It comes with everything you need to mount your processor securely, including a screw driver and a tube of thermal paste.
During our tests, we used an Intel Core i9-13900K processor with a TDP of 125w (Turbo Boost reaches 250-300W). The idle temperatures was around 34 degrees Celsius, so nothing out of the ordinary. But to my surprise, at full load the average temperature reached a high of only 69 degrees Celsius, which is phenomenal!
What I really like about the Forza 135 is the shape and design of the heatsink. It has plenty of clearance on both sides of the heatsink, allowing you to mount the CPU cooler without having to worry about the height of the RAM, or the possibility that it might foul the I/O hood or heatsinks on the Mosfet/VRMs.
The 2 cooling fans features a durable metallic-reinforced motor hub with a metal bearing shell design. It provides high airflow & high static pressure. It does a great job of cooling the heatsink without being too noisy. So no complaints here.
Don’t let anyone discourage you from buying an air cooler for your CPU. As you can see from our review, we’ve already dispelled the myth that air coolers are not good enough for today’s processors. What a load of bull! 😀
You can buy the Cougar Forza 135 CPU cooler for around USD $89.99 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/40ofksX, which I think is a great price for the cooling performance that you’re getting.
Final thoughts:
If you’re after a big CPU air cooler that can offer excellent cooling performance for the latest processors at under USD $90, then look no further. The Cougar Forza 135 is the answer you’ve been looking for.
