CRYORIG C7 Compact Cooler Review

Conclusion

If you are looking for a small but at the same well performing cooler for your processor then you can have a hard time finding one. Most 3rd party cooling solutions are large or ineffective. Thankfully CRYORIG designed C7 compact cooler which is perfect for smaller computers and performs great at the same time. I can’t find any similar option on the market so I was really curious to see how C7 is performing and I’m not disappointed. Actually it’s even better than I was expecting and about as good as CRYORIG declares on their website. If you wish to switch from Intel’s reference cooler to something as small but simply better then you can count that CRYORIG C7 will offer about 20°C lower teperature at similar settings. That’s a huge difference considering that space taken by the cooler is about the same.

Quality of CRYORIG C7 is really good. It’s one of the better prepared products I’ve seen. Small package includes everything needed for installation. All is simple and clear. There is even a short movie how to install a cooler on the CRYORIG website. It’s really hard to make it wrong.

The only issue which I found is backplate which at least is made of plastic so can easily modify it if any components on the motherboard will interfere. I had a little problem with one screw which was holding the chipset heatsink but as I mentioned earlier, it took me literally two minutes to solve it. CRYORIG promissed to change mounting kit soon what is a great news.

I can’t find C7 in stores but it’s expected to be inexpensive – about $30. I will add an update as soon as we receive more detailed info about prices and availability.

Pros:

  • High quality
  • High performance for so small cooler
  • Quiet work
  • Looks great
  • Perfect size for even the smallest computers
  • 6 year warranty ( after registration )

Cons:

  • Current backplate may interfere with some motherboard components

Final words:

CRYORIG is all what you may ask for looking for a compact cooler for your PC. It’s small, it’s performing well, it looks great and works quiet. High quality design makes it one of the best options available on the market , if not the best.

Since it’s really amazing cooler then it clearly deserves Funky Kit Editor’s Choice Award.

Will the Cryorig C7 be good enough for an i7 6700k (non overclock)? I want to build a gaming PC with a Fractal Design Node 202 sff case, so I need to know. Thanks.

It will be enough if in case will be good airflow. However if you are going to load CPU some more then fan can generate some noise. Games are usually not using full CPU power.
I was testing C7 also on 6700K but out of case. I guess it will be fine if power saving options will be enabled and you won’t overclock the CPU ( or overclock it at about 1.05-1.1V max ).
