The cooler is 165mm tall in total, so it should fit many popular ATX cases. Some new cases may be too small, so checking the size before the purchase is always a good idea. Most high-performance CPU coolers are 160-165mm tall, so it’s nothing surprising. Even though the cooler seems large, it fits “just right”. We could even install it in smaller (but wide enough) ITX cases. Except for a few motherboards with tall or non-standard size heatsinks or CPU socket placement, the ASSASSIN IV perfectly fits even ITX motherboards. The initial idea was to run tests on ASUS Crosshair X670E GENE. However, this motherboard is on the list of incompatible motherboards, and we couldn’t use it. To check another, less standard motherboard, we picked ASRock B650E PG ITX. Surprisingly, the ASSASSIN IV fits like a glove. Even though the M.2 heatsink is very tall, there is 2mm of space.
Package and its Contents
The ASSASSIN IV cooler arrived in a retail package – a medium-size box that is well-described with product features and specifications. The cooler is well-protected in foams, so we can be sure we will get it in perfect condition.
We can find a black or white version of the ASSASSIN IV in stores. We’ve decided on a black version, which should better fit our test setups. Since the cooler looks exceptional, it’s definitely a keeper, and you will see it in future reviews of other products.
We will find everything we may need for the installation in the package, like a manual, thermal grease, required tools, and a set of mounting kits for all modern CPU sockets. The cooler supports all popular sockets, including the LGA1700 and AM5 sockets for the latest AMD and Intel processors. It’s also rated up to 280W+, which is more than enough for all popular desktop processors.
