Verdict and Conclusion
All I can say is that I’m very impressed with the EK Thermosphere. I was worried that this GPU waterblock would not meet my cooling requirements … but I was wrong!
Not only did it offer superior cooling with excellent low temperature readings, but it also looks great in my Project Ice Stream 2 PC build.
Remember, don’t forget to add ram sinks for your graphics card memory and VRMs. It is highly recommended. Not doing so, may damage your graphics card.
There are a few things to consider. Because the EK Thermosphere is a GPU only waterblock, make sure you buy additional ram sinks as mentioned above. Also you’ll need to purchase the correct mounting plates for your graphics card. You can double check which one you’ll require here.
Watercooling a graphics card isn’t easy. There are tons of considerations to think about. Not to mention the time involved in measuring your tubing, the correct fittings and the type of loop you want.
But once you get the hang of it … you’ll have a super cool looking system that just rocks in both looks and cooling performance.
The EK Thermosphere can be purchased directly from EK’s website for only 55 Eur (excluding shipping) or on Amazon for USD $85.00. Buy now at Amazon – https://goo.gl/QZDlxT
Final words:
If you want to watercool your graphics card, but find difficulty in finding a full-cover GPU block for your card, then you might want to consider the EK Thermosphere. It’s a GPU only waterblock, which should fit most modern graphics card. It worked for my HIS Radeon RX 480 (non-reference), so it should work for you, provided you have the correct mounting plates.
