Compared to the Solid Black version of the ETS-F40-FS, the ARGB version has an ARGB fan and additional elements in the top cooler cover, and that is pretty much the only difference. Thus expected performance is the same as that of the previously reviewed ETS-F40-FS coolers. The fact there is an ARGB illumination can be a big difference for some users.

Package and its contents

The ETS-F40-FS comes in a quite small box, which contains everything required for the installation. The box is well described with product specifications and key features. There is even a full table with specifications printed on the side of the box.

Enermax ETS-F40-FS is equipped with a single 140mm fan, which is very quiet, even when the CPU is under a higher load. The fan spins up to 1200 RPM and has a high air pressure design, so it performs well even at a lower speed.

The heatsink is equipped with four heat pipes which are designed to directly touch the CPU’s IHS (integrated heat spreader). This design usually gives slightly better results than the one covered with a cold plate. As you can see in the photo above, The surface is flat and nicely covers new processors.

The cooler is similar to the Solid Black version, but the obvious difference makes the ARGB fan and top cover finish with ARGB lighting. Below are a couple of photos made on the test platform. As you can see, the illumination synchronizes well with additional sources of light like RAM.

Installation

The installation is quite simple and shouldn’t cause issues to less advanced users. Everything is well described in the attached manual. The cooler could be installed on ATX and ITX size motherboards. Tests were performed on the MSI X570 Unify motherboard, as you can see in the photos above.

The installation itself takes about five minutes on both AMD and Intel motherboards.

On the next page of this review, we will take a closer look at the performance.
