Performance
Performance has been tested on the AMD Threadripper platform which contains the 1920X processor, ASRock X399M Taichi motherboard, 32GB Ballistix Tactical Tracer DDR4-2666 memory kit overclocked to DDR4-3600, EVGA GTX1060 6GB ITX graphics card, Enermax Platimax D.F 750W 80+ Platinum PSU and 250GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD. Let’s say nothing you couldn’t buy in a good online store.
There are three tests and two CPU settings. The idle result is what we can expect without CPU load. The mixed test is based on PCMark10 benchmark and max load is based on AIDA64 stability test.
All temperatures are in degrees Celsius.
The TR 1920X on default settings is still not so big problem. Even though 12 cores are generating a lot of heat then the LIQTECH can keep it at about 60°C. It’s really good result.
The LIQTECH is the only AIO cooler in this comparison. It’s actually hard to find any coolers designed for the Threadripper on the market. I won’t even mention all the coolers which were designed for other platforms and received a mounting kit for the Threadripper. These coolers simply can’t cover whole IHS.
Enermax LIQTECH performs really well in all tests. It’s a couple of degrees better than the best air cooler on the market. It’s also quiet and in most tests, fans don’t spin faster than the 1200 RPM.
We were able to overclock our CPU to 4.1GHz at 1.41V. The LIQTECH 280 can handle some more but our CPU not so with some luck can count on a higher frequency. Maybe Ryzen 2K will bring better-overclocking processors. Right now let’s focus on the results.
Overclocked TR 1920X is already a challenge for most coolers. We can count on at least 300W under full load. The LIQTECH is designed to handle up to 500W+ so we don’t have to worry.
After overclocking we were able to achieve as low temperatures as 50°C in mixed load test and 77°C in the max load test. I think it’s really good result and so far the best we could see in our redaction.
It would look more impressive if we compared our results to more coolers as I know that some coolers simply can’t handle the Threadripper so well. Since we had no chance to test anything else then we are presenting results on the best air coolers and the LIQTECH TR4 280 but we count on some updates in near future.
I’m sure that all who decide on Enermax LIQTECH AIO will be really satisfied. What more, I know some users who are satisfied and they couldn’t find anything better. High performance and quiet work is a perfect mix for high wattage processors.
