Gigabyte Aorus Liquid Cooler 240 Review

A Closer Look

High Customizability LCD Display

At the centerpiece of the AORUS Liquid Cooler design is the stylized, circular LCD display pump cap with vibrant, gamer aesthetics which users can customize to their liking to deck out their system. The LCD pump cap features four unique modes/tools to choose from including the Enthusiast Mode, Function Mode, Custom Mode, and Display Rotator for users to display CPU model information, related fan performance data, or even custom images and text. With the Image Rotator, users can rotate their own LCD images in the best style they see fit. All of the most important data related to your fan’s cooling performance is accessible and displayed prominently for users to view and passersby will be impressed by the stylish design of the pump cap LCD.

Radiator Optimized Windforce Fan Designed to be Quiet and Cool

AORUS designed fans that deliver ultra efficient and silent cooling, CPUs cooled with new AORUS Liquid Coolers run fluidly even under task heavy loads. Additionally, all 3 radiator sizes have been tested and fitted with the proper fan blade sizes to ensure the best match for high cooling efficiency. AORUS Liquid Coolers sport a dual ball bearing fan structure which has superior efficiency and durability, with double the service life compared to sleeve bearing structure fans. The unique fan blade design reduces the unwanted noise associated with higher fan speeds, striking the best balance between fan efficiency and fan noise. The fan center is lined with ARGB for smooth lighting effects so when the fan is running, RGB lights up your system.

After extensive testing, AORUS has paired the 120mm fan blade with the 240mm radiator for the best synergy in delivering the most efficient heat dissipation with minimal noise. The fan keeps the noise at a minimum even when running at the highest speed. ARGB Fan type adds the AORUS style to your system by supporting RGB Fusion 2.0 for the coolest looking setups.

The life of the 2 ball bearing fan is more than 5 years.

*The double ball bearing structure has better heat endurance and efficiency than sleeve structure. Hence it will provide longer life time.

Multicore CPU Cooling Ready!

Under Prime95 testing and at max RPM, AORUS Liquid Coolers tested up to 7% cooler than other AIO coolers in the market when running Intel i9 9900K CPUs at all cores 5GHz+.

RGB Fusion 2.0

All-new RGB LED Design. RGB Fusion 2.0 Software allows users to control the lighting patterns on the AORUS Falcon logo and fan blades and enables lighting synchronization with peripherals so that users can showcase their own style.

Exclusive Circular LCD Display Modes

Through RGB FUSION 2.0 switch up to 7 LCD pattern models including the AORUS Enthusiast mode, function mode, custom image mode, and custom text mode.

Through the AORUS Engine, users can select CPU model name/clock rates/temps/fan RPM/pump RPM to display on their LCD, giving them full control over the status of each metric. Text and image files can be displayed on the LCD. Fans and pump RPM come with the silent fan function.

Lets check out the Installation and Performance Technology!

The installation of the backplate and heatsink are a breeze. Thanks to Cougar for the effortless design. Now as far as where you plan on putting the cooler in your rig can vary in difficulty. Just keep in mind the bottle neck for most cases are going to be the length of the hoses.

Test setup and Testing Methodology

The system used for testing is listed in the table below. Ambient temperatures were kept at 24 degrees Celsius +/- 1 degree. The thermal paste used was Noctua’s NT-H2 (for testing consistency). The fan speed was set to Full. The idle temperatures were recorded after 10 minutes of idle and max temperatures were recorded after a 5 minute torture test using Adia 64 System Stability Test and recording the Cores values.

Now we get to the good stuff the results. I apologize for my cooling catalogue being rather slim, but as more coolers come in we will continue to grow this list. As you can see in the graph below we have the Idle temps for the Gigabyte Aorus Liquid Cooler 240. This chip hovers at a cool 25 degrees Celsius. Almost ambient temps!

Alright LOAD temps! The ones that really matter. The Gigabyte Aorus Liquid Cooler 240 performed pretty well coming in at 45.5 degrees Celsius. Only time will tell where this cooler will rank in future tests but I am pretty confidant it will compete with the best of them as the cooler manages to crank out decent temps!

Noise can be a important factor for some. If we have a open case design and the fans might be exposed, we don not want record setting noise coming from our cooler. This not the case with the Gigabyte Aorus Liquid Cooler 240. As you can see in the graph above the fans at full speed hit 38 dBs. Just to note, the actually hearable noise from the fans are not distracting at all.

Now lets move on to the Conclusion and Verdict!
