Conclusion and Verdict
Not everyone is in to RGB ring fans, and if you’re one of those users, then the Hyte THICC FP12 cooling fans could be right ones for you.
These fans quite unique in that it uses HYTE’s revolutionary new digital hardware interface with magnetic connectors, giving you the capability to support up to 18 devices on a single port, and up to 54 devices across 3 channels with Nexus Link AmpScale (Nexus Portal NP50).
Each fan measures 120x120x32mm THICC, are made from Fiberglass Reinforced Liquid Crystal Polymer, giving you exceptional rigidity, durability, and aerodynamics. Yes, they’re really 32mm THICC, so make sure you have a chassis/case that will fit them.
In terms of performance, the fans have a dynamically adjustable speed of between 0 – 3,000 RPM and gives you a hefty static pressure of 8.14 mm-H2O. It can deliver massive airflow of up to 105.8 CFM (it’s the biggest we’ve seen so far) with a maximum noise level of around 47.3 dBA.
Interestingly, the fans feature a zero RPM fan mode, which completely stops the fan blades from spinning, allowing silent operation under light workloads.
There’s no RGB lighting which is a slight let down, because it would look great on any chassis/case or radiator if it did. I’m sure Hyte will release an updated RGB version next year (who knows).
I do like the included magnetic cables. The quality is top-notch, wtih strong magnetism on the connecting heads and comes with nice braided sleeves. No controller is needed which is great. However, you can buy the optional Nexus Portal NP50 which allows you connect up to 18 devices on a single channel.
