Noctua NH-U9 TR4-SP3 AMD Threadripper CPU Cooler Review

Closer Look / Product Photos

The NH-U9 TR4-SP3 comes in a typical for Noctua box. Everything is well described and well protected. Even such thing as a package has great design. Small but has everything, specification and main features on the outside and a cooler with all required manuals and accessories inside. We don’t even need any additional tools to install the cooler.

The cooler itself is made of copper and aluminum while the base is made of nickel-plated copper. Probably the best option considering high thermal conductivity and protection for the base.

Six, thick heat pipes are covering the whole base what is one of the reasons why so small cooler can cool so high wattage processors. There is simply no better option if we wish to transfer all that heat into the heatsink fins.

Used fans are 92mm but because of high-quality design, the generated noise was reduced to the minimum. We can still hear them at full speed but during typical work are nearly silent. These fans have also rubber pads to reduce vibrations but because of the fan design, it’s hard to feel any vibrations.

As you can see from the photos, there is no issue with tall memory modules. In the worst case we can install fans a bit higher but popular memory series like G.Skill Trident Z, Ballistix Elite, Corsair Vengeance LED, Team Xtreem and HyperX Predator should fit without issues. On the photos are Patriot Viper 4 modules.

We will use the 1920X Threadripper CPU for our tests. It’s 12 core CPU which is generating a lot of heat so is perfect for our tests. Let’s move to the next page to see the test results.
