Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black CPU Cooler Review

Cooler Specification

The NH-U9S chromax.black cooler should fit every popular ATX or mATX PC case. Most ITX PC cases will also support its height. The only thing you have to check is AM4 socket placement, as some motherboards are not designed within AMD specs, and then the fan can be a bit too close to the RAM slots. At least in our case, there was no problem with ASUS Strix B550I Gaming (ITX), ASUS Crosshair VIII Impact (DTX), and MSI X570 Unify (ATX).

The fan was quiet enough, so it was hard to measure its noise from 1m in a typical room noise. We could register about 0-2dB above the room’s ~32dB noise. The fan is audible under full load but still quiet, so you need a really quiet room to hear the difference between idle and high load work. This is our experience using Ryzen 4650G processor, which could go up to about 80W without APU and about 150W including APU load.
