Raijintek ORCUS 140 RBW AIO Cooler Review

Performance

All tests were performed on the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, one of the more demanding processors on the market. Additional components contain MSI X570 Unify motherboard, HyperX Fury RGB 32GB DDR4-3600 memory kit, and ASRock Phantom Gaming RX6800XT graphics card.

Let’s take a look at the results.

There are three tests. The first is simply called Idle, so an operating system without additional load besides standard processes in the background. The second test is based on the PCMark 10 Extended benchmark, which simulates daily work. The last one is a high CPU load tested with AIDA64 with AVX instructions.

New CPUs are giving us a bit misleading results. As far as in the table you can see the temperature in each test, then it doesn’t mean it tells everything about the performance. We could observe that the Noctua NH-U9S couldn’t keep the CPU clock as high as other coolers, and the CPU frequency was more often going 100-200MHz lower than on other coolers. The CPU tried to balance the heat, voltages, and frequency to keep it below 80° C. The Orcus 140 RBW performed well enough to keep the CPU at its rated frequency with a boost clock up to 4.95GHz. Better results were only on the Noctua NH-D15 cooler on which the CPU could run at about 100MHz higher frequency under higher load.

Another difference is the generated noise. The Orcus 140 RBW, for the most time, could work at not much above the ambient noise, which was 32dB. We could register around 36dB for the test rig during mixed load tests, so about as much as Enermax LIQMAX III, which takes more space. The performance was also about the same as that of the Enermax cooler.

I’m sure that all searching for the liquid cooler with a single 140mm fan will be satisfied. There are not many options on the market, but Raijintek delivers a great cooler with many additional features and is available at a reasonable price.
