Scythe Ashura CPU Cooler Review

Testing and results

 scythe ashura 06

Now lets get to the testing!

Test System:

  • – MSI Z87 G45
  • – Intel Core I5 4670K
  • – 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600 MHz
  • – Corsair AX860w Power Supply

Testing methodology

First I used my own cooler for a comparison (H100i): Then I tested the coolers on stock settings on my I5 4670K. For the Idle temp I, just read the temperatures of the program Realtemp. Then for the Load i used Prime95 for ten minutes and read the temps. After that i Switched coolers to the Scythe Ashura and then i did the same things. I also tested the Scythe Mugen 4 (Scythe Mugen 4 Review)

STOCK SETTINGS

  • Of course my H100i beats the two air coolers, but its a dual radiator water cooler. The Scythe Ashura does preform very well with an average of 5 degrees higher then my H100i and 6 degrees higher on load is definitely  not bad. The scythe Ashura is just a bit better then the Mugen 4 with only 2 degrees.

  •
  • 4.4GHz OVERCLOCK
  • 4.4
  • After i tested on the stock settings I overclocked My CPU to 4.4GHz with a voltage of 1.140. and did same test with my H100i, Mugen 4 and Ashura, with just starting RealTemp and writing down temperatures for the Idle test. And for load i ran again Prime95 for ten minutes. Here we have again the same senario: H100i on top followed by the Scythe Ashura and the mugen with only 2 degrees.
