Scythe Big Shuriken 3 arrived in a small box, not much different than that of other Scythe coolers. Exterior will tell us about everything about the product inside as there are printed detailed specifications and key features.
The cooler has a total height of 69mm so is perfect for small PC cases. It will be still too large for some of them so better check specifications of your desired PC case.
For sure there are no issues to install the Big Shuriken 3 on most ITX size motherboards. From motherboards based on the X570 chipset, there is a limited choice. I can only say that the cooler doesn’t fit on ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/BG3 because of its unusual socket and heatsink design. There were no problems on the Gigabyte Aorus X570 I Pro WiFi or ASRock X570 Extreme4 but the second one is actually in an ATX form factor.
The cooler causes no problems with even the tallest memory modules. As you can see in the photos, it’s possible to install every available RAM. It also perfectly fits C onto every motherboard in a standard design, leaving single mm space on each side or between I/O cover/heatsink.
The base of the cooler is made of nickel-plated copper. There are five heat pipes which are covering the whole cold plate. The base itself is well polished to nearly a mirror effect.
The Big Shuriken 3 is equipped the Kaze slim series fan. This fan has no RGB LEDs, but it’s not required for most users. The most important is that this fan is quiet and offers high air pressure.
