Conclusion
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Scythe Kabuto 3 but at the end I’m really satisfied. It performs good and at the same time is really quiet while CPU is under full load, what is even more important to me.
Design is quite unique and I guess it will be interesting for all who are trying to build computers in smaller cases. Kabuto 3 perfectly fits on the MSI ITX motherboard so I guess there won’t be issues with other brands as all are using about the same space near CPU socket. Also quality is really good. Actually I feel like it’s even better than Ninja 4 tested at the end of last year. The only thing which I would change is mounting mechanism. It’s about the same as in reference Intel coolers and I simply don’t like it. It doesn’t change fact it works good and shouldn’t cause any issues as Kabuto 3 is really light for its size.
Since Scythe Kabuto 3 isn’t released yet then I don’t have info about price and availability but like all Scythe products, there shouldn’t be any issues with availability and price will be about as high ( or low, depends how you look at it ) as Kabuto 2.
Scythe Kabuto 3 is covered by two year warranty what is pretty typical in this type of products and most manufacturers are not offering longer warranty. The only thing with moving parts is GlideStream fan which is known to be solid so I doubt there will be any issues within warranty period or even longer.
Pros:
- Good performance
- Interesting design
- Works with most available RAM modules
- Silent work
Cons:
- Mounting mechanism could be different
Final words:
If you are looking for a really quiet, top-flow cooler then Scythe Kabuto 3 is one of the best options you can find. It offers high performance, high quality and quiet work. At the same time there are no issues to install it on even the smallest motherboards and use even the tallest memory kits!
