A Closer Look and Installation
The Mugen’s heat sink is made of aluminum, with a copper, nickel-plated base and heat pipes. Everything looks clean and professional.
There are no fancy additions, plastic covers, RGB illumination, or display panels that would raise the price and not affect the performance. As with all Scythe products, the price is a strong point, and it’s not at the cost of the quality or performance.
The heatsink is asymmetric to improve compatibility with large graphics cards, tall VRM heatsinks, and tall RAM. Everything is measured perfectly, so we can use the Mugen 6 series even on small ITX motherboards.
The cooler’s base is made of nickel-plated copper. This is the best option for keeping performance high and protecting the base from stains.
The installation is simple, and everything is described well in the manual. Since there is no RGB, we are limited to a PWM connector that delivers the power and automatically adjusts the fans’ speed.
Below is the black version of the cooler installed on the test rig with a Gigabyte B650E Master motherboard. As you can see, the clearance is fine, and all heatsinks and components around them still have some space to breathe.
On the next page are our test results for the AMD test rig mentioned.
