In conclusion, The Scythe Mugen Max SCMGD-1000 is a cooler that may not have all the flash but has great cooling capabilities. Keep it simple seems to be fitting motto for the cooler. The fan performs well and does not whine or hum while running at full speed. The ability to add the second fan is huge plus. I would have like to of tested the cooler with the optional fan but when testing that, having the matching fan would have been the ideal way of performing the test, so without the hardware I can only assume that the cooler would have at least gain a few degrees in the cooling capabilities. The only downside to Mugen Max SCMGD-1000 is the included thermal paste. While the paste could possibly get you by until you could pick up better paste but I would not recommend using the included paste for very long.
Scythe has been in the industry since the early 2000’s and that experience shows in the test results. While the Mugen Max SCMGD-1000 may a little hard to find at major retailers, the hunt may be worth your while as the cooler will definitely meet your expectations.
