Scythe Shuriken 2 Compact CPU Cooler Review

Closer Look / Product Photos

Scythe Shuriken 2 arrived in a small but well-described box. The exterior will tell us everything we need to know about the cooler inside, including more detailed specifications.

Inside we will find a card telling us that the cooler is compatible with the LGA1200 socket, so the latest Intel processors. We will perform our tests on AMD Ryzen 5 4650G, a lower power processor but still within’ the recommended TDP for the cooler.

In the box is everything we may need for installation, except maybe a screwdriver. The manual is clear, so all should be able to handle the installation without issues.

The cooler itself is small and clearly well-designed. Everything seems to be perfectly measured to fit small computers and don’t interfere with motherboards’ components. At the height of 58mm, it’s still too big for some compact ITX cases, so we have to keep that in mind while picking the PC case.

The base is made of nickel-plated copper and has four quite thick heat pipes going through it. There is no better option for such small coolers. Also, the base finish is great and similar to that of higher Scythe coolers. Maybe not a perfect mirror effect, but close.

As you can see below, there are no problems with installation on ITX motherboards like ASUS Strix B550-I Gaming and tall memory modules.

On the next page, I will tell you some more about the performance so let’s move there.
