Thermaltake Pacific RL240 D5 Hard Tube Water Cooling Kit Review

Radiator, Fans, Reservoir and Pumps

The kit comes complete with everything you need. You find a Pacific W1 CPU Water Block, a Pacific PR22-D5 Pump/Reservoir Combo, and the Pacific RL240 Radiator, along with a 6 compression fittings, 2 x Red Riing fans, 24pin ATX Bridge Tool, 4 PETG hard tubes and a liter of red opaque coolant.

To match our color scheme of orange and white, we decided to paint the casing of the radiator white. This took some rather interesting skills to achieve 😛

The kit also comes with 120mm Riing fans which are RED. We decided to ditch them for Thermaltake’s Riing 12 LED RGB fans instead. The black fan blades are extremely boring … so again we decided to paint them orange … to go with the orange fan blades the graphics card.

Time to mount the Pacific PR22-D5 Pump/Reservoir Combo, the Pacific RL240 Radiator with the painted Riing 12 LED RGB fans. The actual installation of the reservoir/pump and the radiator on to the Core P3 chassis was pretty easy. I didn’t experience any difficulties or problems. However, bear in mind you need to make sure to fix the positions of your reservoir/pump and radiator … so that you can measure up the length of the hard tubes.

We’ve added Thermaltake’s TtMod Sleeve Cable (Orange and Black) for tidy cable management and of course it looks great. You’ll also notice the Thermaltake RGB light and fan controller underneath the radiator … we painted that white too 😛

Hard Tube Bending (sold separately)

This was probably one of the hardest part of the project build. Not only do you need the right equipment, but also need to draw out your flow plan and measure the correct length of the tubing.

To do the bends, you’ll need the Thermaltake Hard Tube bending kit, and a 1600W or higher heat gun. There are videos on Youtube on how to bend your tubes.

In my opinion, the silicon insert is probably the most important part of the bending kit. Without it, your tubes will NOT keep its shape. The tube cutting tool is also extremely handy … I got perfect cuts without all the jagged edges.
