Thermaltake TOUGHFAN EX12 Pro High Static Pressure PC Cooling Fan Snow Edition Review

Installation

Installing the Thermaltake TOUGHFAN EX12 Pro High Static Pressure PC Cooling Fans was very straightforward thanks to the MagForce 2.0 Quick Connect Design. This feature allowed for easy daisy-chaining of fans, minimizing cable clutter. We made sure that all pins were lined up properly before installing the fans.

The swappable fan blades made customization simple when we swapped out the blades for intake to bring air into the PC. If the fan blades ever need to be changed in future, you can simply pop out the current blades and pop in the replacements without taking the fans out.

Additionally, the anti-vibration mounting system helped to keep the fans stable and in place during installation. Then to put the fans in place, all we needed to do was screw in 12 screws conecting the fans to the bottom of the PC.

When everything was installed properly, we then plugged in the 4 pin cable directly in to the motherboard and turned on the PC. On the first attempt, all fans were spinning and working perfectly.

Cooling Performance

The Chassis #3 fans are the ones we are testing. The idle temperatures for our Core i9-13900K was around 47 degrees Celsius, which is pretty normal and nothing out of the ordinary. Fan speeds range from a low of 1091 rpm to high of 1126 rpm.

At full load, temperatures reached a high of 100 degrees Celsius, which as we expected for a Core i9-13900K (with Turbo boost at 254W).

Fans speeds reached a high of 1138 rpm during full load. There is not much of a difference between the idle and full load fan speed RPM which means that during full load, these fans do not make lots of noise.
