Dissection!
Naturally I can’t leave this thing in one piece, if I touch it it must be shreaded!
Don’t do this if you value your warranty, nor if you value the functionality of the cooler, nor if you value the future of your computer. Plus, yours will look the same as mine anyway.
Without further ado, the heat transfer plate comes off!
You can see the pump intake at the top there, water flows into the block through the bottom.
The liquid itself is water and some flavor of glycol plus a bittering agent. It tastes terrible. Don’t drink it. The plate itself looks like this:
Removing the top cover shows us the motor and electronics package:
Next out are the next two plates down:
Below them we’re starting to run out of pump:
Then there’s the impeller itself:
The hoses go into hosebarbs that are allowed to rotate in the housing, they’re each sealed with two o-rings:
Here’s the opening the hosebarb goes into:
Overall things look quite well designed, the o-rings are all properly sized, attention has been paid to how the water will flow through the block, it’s all good!
