Verdict & Conclusion
First off, I’m going to talk about what I would like to see improved on the DJI Osmo Mobile. If you’re recording video on your smartphone, make sure it has lots of memory. You’ll also soon realize that the battery on the Osmo Mobile is going to out last the one inside your phone, so if DJI can design something that’s also discreet to charge a smartphone, that would be wonderful but in the meantime, a long smartphone charging cable is needed. But there’s also a downside to this; you must position the lens of your phone the left side of the holder, otherwise the arm of the gimbal will obstruct its view. This then means that your charging port of your phone (and they’re normally on the bottom) is flush against the butt of the holder.
The videos I took all came out super smooth. Everyday walking and recording was a breeze, but do expect the odd bumps in your recordings when you go over uneven ground. The downside to recording video on your smartphone, as mentioned above, is that it will eat up your phone’s battery very quickly, and many users have reported that the DJI GO app really consumes battery.
Even with the weight of my iPhone 6 Plus firmly in the holder, the Osmo Mobile does not feel too heavy to hold during long periods of time, and the handle is very comfortable to use. All controls are in easy reach of you thumb and forefinger without the need to over extended you digits.
The DJI Osmo Mobile is well priced against its competitors, and with the addition of the DJI GO app possesses much more features, such as timelapse and face detection, than you will find on the others, making this probably one of the best gimbal stabilizers out on the market right now.
To further extend the use of the DJI Osmo Mobile, I’ve got my eye on a third party adapter which will enable me to attach my Go Pro on it! Buy now at Amazon – https://goo.gl/isHu83
