Main review
*Disclaimer* For this review I had to use a USB to USB type-c adapter due to me having a Galaxy S7 but I did use Samsung’s fast charge cable during testing.
The Looks
Along with looking good this wall charger is extremely sturdy feeling and quite heavy compared to most other wall outlets. I give the BoostCube a 5/5 in looks and build quality.
Main usage review
I’ll put this out first This wall charger is meant for laptops and tablets. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t charge a phone with it but at $25 for a single port wall charger with no Qualcomm quick charge capabilities you’ll feel extremely disappointed with it since you can get phone wall chargers that perform the same for around $10 and if you have a phone that uses USB Type-c you can still get a normal non quick charge wall charger and a Type-c to USB adapter for less than the price of this product.
Charging my Galaxy S7 was nothing amazing but nothing bad either, taking almost exactly 3 hours to go from 1% to full it performs about the same as any other non quick charge wall charger and at $25 even with its high wattage limit I was hoping for either quick charge or multiple Type-c ports in order to justify its price.
Where this product really fits in is as a replacement charger for thin and light laptops like Apple’s Mac Books that come with a 45W charger or some of Dell’s XPS laptops.
Just note that some higher end laptops will use higher wattage chargers than 45W so always check your devices specifications to make sure this wall charger will suffice.
Overall I’d describe this wall charger as “alright” it does exactly what its advertised for and with a 45W limit it’s price is a little easier to understand but I still feel like it needs quick charging at the minimum (Multiple ports would be nice too) to really justify paying $25 for this product.
Now onto the final thoughts and final score!
