The Box and Packaging
This budget processor is great. It comes bundled with an Intel cooling fan. No need waste money to buy an extra cooling fan. And NO, you don’t need a bigger fan as this processor is locked and can not be overclocked.
According to Intel … the built-in graphics (or IGP as it’s known) can support upto 64Gb video memory, 4K display, DX12 and OpenGL 4.4!
Intel Pentium G4560
Test Setup
We will be using the following components in our test rig … All tests were conducted at default clock speeds at a resolution of 1920×1080. High or Ultra settings enabled.
CPU | Intel Pentium G4560 (Kaby Lake) @ 3.5GHz |
Cooling | Intel bundled cooling fan |
Motherboard | MSI Z170M Mortar |
Ram | 2 x 4GB Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4-3000 in Dual Channel Mode |
HDD | Adata XPG SX930 – 240GB |
PSU | Thermaltake Toughpower RGB 750W |
VGA card | Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Edition 8GB GDDR5 |
Nvidia Drivers | Latest GeForce Drivers v.378.49 – WHQL |
OS | Windows 10 |
Installation super easy … just carefully mount the CPU into the LGA 1151 socket and place the Intel cooling fan on top. Lock the cooling fan in place with a flat head screw driver at each corner.
MSI Z170M BIOS updated to support 7th gen Kaby Lake processors. Sadly, non-K CPUs means NO overclocking 🙁
CPU and System Information
All looking normal here. Yes, its a dual core G4560 with 4 threads in total running at a nippy 3.5GHz and comes with 3Mb cache.
AIDA64 reports 4 threads operating fully at 3.5GHz
System information showing you the 4 threads.
Idle Temps
CPU Temps at Full Load
The G4560 produced a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius at full load, which I think is fine. Mind you, we using the standalone low profile Intel heatsink and fan, which was bundled with the CPU … the other test rigs used watercooling.
