Performance
The performance has been tested on the AMD Ryzen platform with the Ryzen 9 7950X processor and ASUS Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard. The test platform is not limiting the Keypad 200C in any way.
The Keypad 200C flash drive can achieve even more than the declared 280/200MB/s, and if you have any problems with that, then it’s probably the USB controller or motherboard’s fault.
As usual, in my storage reviews, I will start with the ATTO Disk Benchmark. It’s one of the most popular storage benchmarks, and results are easy to compare at home.
The ATTO benchmark shows that the Keypad 200C can reach 287MB/s read and 240MB/s write bandwidth. This benchmark usually shows slightly lower than declared results, while here both values are higher than the specified.
In CrystalDiskMark, we can see a read bandwidth of up to 300MB/s and a write bandwidth of up to 250MB/s. Both results are exceptional and higher than those declared by Kingston.
UL benchmarks, like PCMark 10 or 3DMark, are typically not used for flash drives, but being curious how the Keypad 200C performs, we checked both benchmark series.
PCMark 10 result is pretty good for a flash drive. However, we skipped tests other than the Quick System Drive, as they were taking way too much time and wouldn’t show comparable data. Other tests are also designed for the performance SSD series.
I doubt anyone will play games on the Keypad 200C, but here is a 3DMark Storage result. As we can see in the detailed results, it wouldn’t be a problem to run games from this flash drive. It’s fast enough even for that.
We will still show you Anvil’s Storage Utilities result, which is pretty good, considering it’s one more benchmark that barely ever shows declared maximum bandwidth on any storage device.
Surprisingly, all tests showed higher than declared performance, even those that never gave us results close to the specified. The Keypad 200C flash drive is probably officially specified lower than it can do because of the variety of devices and very wide compatibility. Users with older or strictly business hardware may expect lower results than ours, but probably still as high as declared by Kingston.
Even though the performance is not the most important in the product designed for full data security, it’s nice to see that Keypad 200C performs well and meets our expectations. At the given very high price, we wish it to perform even better, but it’s hard to complain about 250MB/s+ results while moving data.
