Verdict and Conclusion
I’m still in shock here. Never would I have guessed that this business-looking laptop from Dell would perform as well as it did. The Dell Latitude E7270 Ultrabook not only offered great performance, but its looks and styling is make it stand out from the rest of the other brands. I do like the carbon look of the cover, and the 12.5″ touchscreen LCD display is nice feature to have and it’s easy to use.
Powered by Intel’s latest 6th generation Core i5 processor running at 2.6 GHz, and featuring Integrated HD Graphics 520, along with 8GB DDR4-2133MHz ram and 256Gb SSD storage … it’s more than capable to satisfy the demands of your average every day user.
Although the Dell Latitude E7270 Ultrabook is pretty compact in size, it still looks and feels larger than I would have liked it. Height: 0.74″ (18.85 mm) x Width: 12.22″ (310.5 mm) x Depth: 8.47″ (215.15 mm), weighing in at 1.26Kg … would you call it an “Ultrabook”?

The other thing I would have liked, is a higher resolution display. At 1366 x 768 it’s just too small for my liking nowadays. Maybe I used to looking at my Mackboor Air which is set at 1440 by 900.
Costing around USD $1,299, the Dell Latitude E7270 Ultrabook certainly isn’t cheap. If they drop the price by another $200 … then I might consider it. There’s just too much choice on the market right now, especially when you can get a Macbook Air for a similar price. Buy now at Amazon – http://goo.gl/ySXfu9
Pros:
- Good performance
- Good components
- 12.5″ touchscreen LCD display
Cons:
- Maximum resolution (1366 x 768)
- Expensive
Final words:
I think Dell have come a long way since the early days of their “boring” laptops. Over the past few years their XPS series have really put them back in the game, while their new Latitude series of laptops are gaining some traction. But don’t use them for gaming … the Dell Latitude E7270 Ultrabook isn’t designed for that, nor are they aimed at the gaming market.
All-in-all, the Dell Latitude E7270 is a decent Ultrabook, and it’s perfect for your everyday user who needs the performance while on the move. However, the price is a real concern.
