Performance
We used various benchmarking software including PCMark 8 from FutureMark, and Performance Test 8.0 from PassMark to get some comparable scores.
PCMark 8
“PCMark 8 is the latest version in our series of industry standard PC benchmarking tools. With PCMark 8 you can test the performance of all types of PC, from tablets to desktops. With five separate benchmark tests plus battery life testing, PCMark 8 helps you find the devices that offer the perfect combination of efficiency and performance. PCMark 8 is the complete PC benchmark for home and business.”
We managed to get an overall score of 2108. Not bad considering it’s Core M5 powered ultrabook running at 1.1GHz.
PassMark Rating
“Fast, easy to use, PC speed testing and benchmarking. PassMark PerformanceTest ™ allows you to objectively benchmark a PC using a variety of different speed tests and compare the results to other computers.”
Last month we reviewed the Dell Latitude E7270 Ultrabook (Core i5 @ 2.4GHz), which gave us a PassMark score of 2391.1. Our Dell Latitude E7370 Ultrabook produced a score of 2096.1. The score is lower than that of the E7270, but you have to remember E7370 is using the new Core M5 processor but running at lower speed of 1.1GHz … that’s less than half the speed of the Core i5 of the E7270!
CPU Mark
For CPU performance, the Dell Latitude E7370 is represented by the green bar. It’s not bad considering it is a Core M5 low voltage CPU designed for laptops, plus it’s only running at 1.1GHz. Don’t expect to do anything too heavy on this ultrabook, like video or photo editing.
Disk Mark
OMG! … This BLOWS everything out of the water. This is all thanks to the Toshiba 256GB SSD, which uses the PCI Express interface. Our previous Dell Latitude E7270 produced a Disk Mark score of 4,549 versus 12,208 of the Dell Latitude E7370.
Summary (E7270 vs E7370)
And this is the summary page from the Performance Test. Looking at the comparison table below, the Dell Latitude E7370 may under perform is the CPU, 2D and 3D benchmarks … but it makes it up in memory and disk performance.
