Full load temperatures for the CPU reached a high of 88 degrees Celsius, while the GeForce RTX 2070 hit a max of 79 degrees Celsius. Although it may seem high, MSI’s dedicated cooling solution with 8 heat pipes handled it pretty well.
Verdict and Conclusion
I have to admit, I never thought twice about gaming laptops due to its high price (usually over USD $1,500 and above). It’s something I wouldn’t normally recommend for anyone to buy, unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Being this is my first ever review on a gaming laptop, I have to say … Wow! I’m pretty blown away by the performance of the MSI GE63 Raider RGB 8SF. This is all thanks to the powerful Core i7-8750H processor along with the onboard GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB of GDDR6 ram. The included 15.6″ screen with FHD (1920×1080) resolution, 144Hz IPS panel looks gorgeous, and is great for gaming.

The built-in Steelseries RGB gaming keyboard, along with the Dynaudio sound system are a nice added bonus. You also get a standard HD resolution of 720p @ 30 fps, AC Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5, not to mention the KILLER DOUBLESHOT PRO for streaming, gaming and network connectivity. MSI’s Dragon Center software allow users to monitor the status of the laptop including temperatures, cooling, memory usage, RGB lighting, audio and gaming preferences.
For connectivity, there’s plenty … you get 1 x mic-in and 1 x headphone out, as well as 1 x Killer gigabit LAN port, 1 x SD Card slot, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Mini Displayport, 2 x USB 3.1 gen 2 (both Type-A and Type-C) and 2 x USB 3.1 gen 1 ports.
