Overclocking
For most people, 1866mhz ram speed is plenty. But for others they will want the maximum amount of performance from everything they have. For testing I set a limit of 1.65v for the memory since that is perfectly fine for the SB-E memory controller and lets face it, what kind of overclocker would you be to leave voltage at stock settings?
First, we tested using the stock timings to see how far we could go.
CPU-Z Information
Keeping everything on the motherboard on auto we bumped the ram frequency up to 2133mhz and the voltage up to 1.65v. Needless to say that is a nice overclock at the stock timings with a simple voltage bump. Overclocked testing was done at this frequency and timings.
AIDA64
Superpi 32m
Wprime
wprime makes a difference with faster memory speed even if it isn’t a huge difference
Maxxmem
For some reason maxxmem hwbot edition runs pretty badly on the X79 platform.
Maxxmem2
Maxxmem2 takes advantage of the 4 channels of memory.
