One of the nice bonuses to 1600MHz 9-9-9 and 1.5v is that, as Crucial says above, modern BIOSes will pick it up and run with it without you having to do anything at all. Entering the BIOS and enabling XMP and setting the voltage isn’t exactly hard, but this is even easier.
If you do want to play with it, you’ll be happy to find that Crucial included profiles for higher speed as well!
The timings go downhill rapidly, but at least I’ll have some headroom for the overclocking section.
The kit I got looks like full retail packaging, so if you buy this kit you should get something similar.
Not much packaging here, and what there is reflects nicely as you can see! still, it’s enough to protect the RAM as long as the retailer doesn’t ship in an envelope that gets bent to stuff in the mailbox. Mine arrived intact.
The heatspreaders are glued on aluminum affairs, they don’t stick up above the top of the sticks. There shouldn’t be any clearance issues for large CPU heatsinks. DDR3 ram generally runs cool enough that heatspreaders aren’t needed in the first place, but these certainly won’t hurt to have on there. The stickers have some info about the ram in question.
Nothing hugely shocking, but it’s nice to see that Crucial put the full timing list and voltage on the sticker. Some companies don’t!
Installed, the ram easily clears my Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU cooler.
No clearance issues here!
