Overclocking
Overclocking is never guaranteed so the presented results may vary from results on other memory kits. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware and it will not be covered by warranty.
Overclocking has been performed on the Intel i7 5820K processor and ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard with the latest BIOS/UEFI.
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 4x4GB DDR4-2400 CL16 memory kit is overclocking really good. It should be good option especially for all who wish higher performance but don’t want to raise voltage much. New Micron IC used in Crucial DDR4 memory kits don’t really like high voltages but is scalling really good even at 1.25-1.35V.
Below you can see what was possible to set on our review kit. These settings were stable during longer tests.
The best performance we could see on the last setting which is great considering still reasonable voltage of 1.35V. Below you can see AIDA64 memory bandwidth results. I think it’s great setting, especially that tested Ballistix Sport LT memory has declared speed of DDR4-2400 CL16.
DDR4-3000 mark wasn’t possible on our test kit. Two memory modules were able to run pretty stable but all four together had stability issues and sometimes were not recognized by motherboard. Raising voltage or relaxing memory timings didn’t help.
It doesn’t change fact that Crucial Ballistix Sport LT is overclocking great offering additional performance boost to all who need it.
