Verdict and Conclusion
From what I see, ARES memory seems less popular than TridentX or some other enthusiast/overclocker series.
One of reasons can be the quite high price, about the same as TridentX 2400 CL10 so about $75 for 2x4GB kit.
Overclocking is the really good side of this memory.
Hynix based modules don’t need high voltage to run at much higher clocks and DDR3-2666 mark was possible to set at standard 1.65V without any additional cooling.
If we won’t look at the price then I think that ARES series is really underrated.
It’s really fast memory, low profile and good looking which is overclocking really good. What else you may need?
Pros:
- High performance
- Low profile heatsink
- Runs cool
- Good overclocking
- Good looks and black PCB
- Easy to configure (two XMP profiles and both work well)
Cons:
- When you can’t find anything then price could be always lower
Final Words. I haven’t found anything that could point out bad sides of the ARES series except already mentioned price (which isn’t really so bad considering good overclocking). I’m really impressed be this memory and I’m sure that power users and gamers won’t be disappointed choosing this product.
G.Skill ARES DDR3-2133 2x4GB memory kit is really high quality memory which deserves a high score.
