Conclusion
Once again we can see great memory kit from G.Skill. We had absolutely no problems with stability or performance using Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-3000 memory kit. Even XMP profile is working as it supposed to. I’m saying even as many available memory kits have problems with XMP profiles on Intel Skylake platform. With G.Skill you can be sure it will work and you will be able to set declared settings after enabling this one option in BIOS.
Right now I can’t see many better options for gamers than DDR4-3000 memory because of best performance to price ratio. Lower frequency memory is not much cheaper while offers lower performance. Higher frequency memory is usually much more expensive while we can barely see performance gain. If we wish to save some money but run memory at higher frequency then we can always try our luck in overclocking. In this case we could set stable DDR4-3200 settings what is good result considering it’s 2x8GB memory kit.
G.Skill designed whole new memory line for Intel Skylake platform and except high performance, it also offers great looks. Ripjaws V is maybe not the best looking memory but presents really good. Right now we could see it only in red and black colors but soon will be also blue and silver. Good enough to fit almost every available motherboard.
At the end one of the most important things so price. G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-3000 cost about $130 what is quite good price comparing to competition. If we compare it to DDR3 prices then it also looks good so I think that upgrade to DDR4 in this case won’t be bad idea.
Pros:
- High performance
- High overclocking potential
- Great looks
- Well priced
- Compatible with Z170 motherboards ( I shouldn’t even add it to the Pros but looking at the competition it really is worth to add )
Cons:
- None worth to mention
Final words:
If you are thinking to upgrade your computer to an Intel Skylake but you are looking for best performance to price ratio memory then G.Skill Ripjaws V is memory for you. It offers high performance, great looks, good support and high overclocking potential. All that in quite low price.
Right now it’s hard to find any better option for Intel Skylake than the Ripjaws V memory. Ripjaws V 2x8GB DDR4-3000 memory kit receives well deserved Recommended Award!
