Conclusion and Verdict
As with the previously reviewed TridentX memory, the 16GB DDR3-1866 CL8 kit has exceptional performance and quality. The tested memory was fast, good looking, and had high overclocking potential … so everything that any computer enthusiast or gamer needs.
8GB modules are harder to optimize for high performance but G.Skill made it work using tight timings and reasonable voltage. As probably the only high end memory manufacturer, G.Skill is using Samsung IC for TridentX series while all other manufacturers have already moved to Hynix or Micron IC running at more relaxed timings.
The TridentX 2x8GB DDR3-1866 CL8 costs about $200 so it’s not low but let us say that it is average for a 16GB DDR3-1866 memory. We have to also remember that other manufacturers than G.Skill are not offering DDR3-1866 CL8 memory.
G.Skill is providing lifetime warranty for all their memory products as is sure that their products are top quality. Actually most manufacturers offer lifetime warranty nowadays as RAM has rarely any issues but not all manufacturers are preparing SPD/XMP profiles so well. G.Skill memory has really low percent of any compatibility issues and personally I have never had any issues with their memory running on various AMD and Intel platforms.

Final words:
G.Skill TridentX 16GB DDR3-1866 is a great memory and I can recommend it to everyone without any doubt. Computer enthusiasts and gamers will not be disappointed as there is probably not a better DDR3-1866 memory kit on the market (including it is the only one still using Samsung IC). The TridentX DDR3-1866 CL8 passed all our tests flawlessly while showing high performance, perfect stability, and it also looks great! The TridentX memory series once again deserves a Recommended Award from FunkyKit!
